I mix media. All sorts. Though primarily I learn through oil painting and photography.
my bio
I am. A traveler at heart. I left the DTES when i was 20 and returned in my 40's. Traveled across Canada qr first then went overseas for 7 years. First to Europe and to Asia/South East Asia. I came to art late in life. Initially, it began as a therapeutic process bit in so doing became revelatory. Had always fancied myself an intellectual/ philosophical type. And lo and behold my astonishment to discover an inner artist that longed for self-expression. And the missing link that I had been searching for was within me and waiting for me to give it license.
my B.A.
was in history, completed in Victoria after my travels. Through this process I discovered the history of art. Art had been fundamental to human development. It allows us to express the intangible unquantifiable elements of our human experience. Art, whether god or bad,( and what does that mean anyway) in some ways always expresses and reflects the inner dimensions of human experience. And that is primarily why we relate to it or not. It represents a larger world than our everyday object consciousness.
For example, wolf(in), started as a dream. I painted it. I sent the image to a few close friends. They saw anger. Initially i didn't see anger. Only the urgency to paint it. But soon i began to see that this wolf represented my shadow self. All my stuffed anger and emotions and that it too needed to have its say. And therefore my art is a safe place to reassemble and reintegrate the lost and howlin parts of myself.
