Salvador is a self-taught artist from Mexico. He has maintained an active studio practice working in a variety of materials since a young age.
Social issues and painful traumas inspired him. He references the enduring spirit of the human condition. His art practice also looks to nature and its power of transformation for ideas.
Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and Pablo Picasso are his favorite and he is particularly drawn to Picasso’s ceramics and his reinterpretation of functional vessel forms and surface exploration.
His long-term goals are to learn more about Art Therapy. He is interested in the power of art to transform peoples’ lives and believes art as a form of expression to overcome trauma.
Currently, Salvador makes his art in a variety of community centres throughout Vancouver. He works part-time for JustPotters, and is in charge of preparing the glazes as well as glazing all of the work.
