Rebecca Slattery explores the process of transformation from the tangible to the material. Her commitment to understanding the interconnected nature of all relationships has led her to absorb inspiration from disparate influences such as philosophy, metaphysics, sociology, illustration, and the natural environment. Her most recent works explore themes of identity and the dichotomies between the mundane and the sublime and autonomy and dependence. Her work is enigmatic and invites us to find relationships between ourselves and the natural environment that confirm our quest towards love, acceptance and evolving humanity.
Since becoming a member of Gallery Gachet in 2013 and being a consecutive DTES grant recipient she has actively participated in several group exhibitions and engaged artist conversations at Gallery Gachet, the Roundhouse Community Center, U.B.C Learning Exchange, and Crab Park Portside. Her work been exhibited internationally in Paris, Australia, and Mexico with an upcoming 2017 show in Ireland.
She has a Degree from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and a Certificate from the Design and Display program at Langara College.
