Patricia Morris
A reader, a writer who photographs, a lover of containers
An art school dropout and a Harvard grad, I moved to Vancouver’s DTES at the turn of the millennium. The best decision I ever made.
My Turkish grandfather was a photographer in Winnipeg and my Russian grandmother painted the photos. Four decades ago I was introduced to Diane Arbus’s work. Her images have haunted me ever since.
I began writing alongside my photos when I lived in Papua New Guinea. Now I can’t stop. Writing allows me the space to reflect upon my experiences.
My second novel will be set in the DTES exploring the choice to become an artist and the relationship of artists with gentrification.
