I feel that although my addictions and vices may be different than the majority of people living in the Downtown Eastside, when we look in each other’s eyes and are present with one another, we recognize that one common denominator that binds us: Pain. Through my photographs, I want to give people and myself the opportunity to communicate that pain so that we might eventually process it and transcend it with empathy and strength.
