Mary-Ann Charney is a longtime East Side resident, a maker of small-format film and video projects, and a community activist. She is using funding from Small Arts Grants to photograph part one of a postcard series documenting Cottonwood Community Garden. Cottonwood is a modern-day commons, uniting people to the land and to one another. A large part of this essential green space is at risk of being paved over if projects for increased traffic on Malkin Street (aka Produce Row), through Strathcona, and into downtown are completed.
