Katherine Soucie is an artist who works with textile waste and the discarded. She is a designer who transforms waste hosiery, utilizes obsolete clothing + textile machinery and incorporates traditional artisanal techniques in order to (re)imagine their raisons d'etres -- to tell their story.
Her practice is informed by identity, craft, labour, production and the act of improvisation. She remixes mending and artisanal handcraft applications with obsolete and digital technologies derived from my formal training in fashion, textiles and printmaking in order to produce by-products and forms that act as a reminder of what is often left behind.
"My work, research and practice is designed to (re)imagine a past — in the present — for the future."
