Joe Chow

I’m a Chinese Indian born in Prince Rupert.

Ive been a musician for forty years or so. I studied music theory at Vancouver Community College with Ted Green. I create my poetry to music, composing with my guitar. I describe my songs as rock n roll and my influences are Elvis Presley, Chuck Barry, James Brown and the Bee Gees. My band, The Jay Sea Band, has played at the Smiling Buddha in the downtown east side of Vancouver. My photo is now in the Vancouver art museum. I have about six demo cds and one was played up in Prince Rupert on CBC radio.

My goals are

• to  write and play more songs
• to have more air play on a commercial  radio station
• to create a hit song! With my Small Arts Grant, I have purchased a monitor so I can hear myself singing and improve my sound
