Katie Gartlan-Close and Carmine Santavenere are recent graduates of SFUs Theatre Performance program. They are interested in connection, cardboard, and expanding what they think of as theatre. Both Katie and Carmine work as interdisciplinary collaborative artists. They joined forces a year ago to create Living Cardboard Projects. The company began as a series of public performances, which took place throughout Downtown Vancouver all summer long, and featured large-scale cardboard creations. They both believe that there is a need for art in the city, and that it should be accessible to everyone. By bringing these performances into public spaces, they hope to enliven some peoples daily routines. Carmine and Katie have since gone on to create more exciting performances, and will be exhibiting their newest work, I smoke for only one reason at the beginning of next month.
